Factory Reset still dangerous?
Hi,
I'm planning to factory reset my ATIV S (which is on 8.1.1 DP) because the system is littered (especially the 5.1GB system and 1.75GB other size are annoying).
I've read some threads where people say their GDR3 phone died and only gave a black screen after resetting and had to be sent in for repairs or software features missing after the reset.
So, in its current state with 8.1.1 DP and the latest official FW, is it still dangerous to do a reset? Because if it is, I'll stick with my installation because I don't wanna risk blowing up my ATIV S...
So if anyone has recently (succesfully) reset his 8.1.+ ATIV S, please let me know!

ATIV S GT-i8750 8.1 Update ?
Guys, please help me.
I'm going round in circles looking for a simple set of instructions (with links to the required tools and firmware) to flash my AtivS i8750 to the latest available 8.1 (or whatever the latest is we can get).
I'm fully au fait with flashing Android so I'm not a novice but haven't ever done a WP phone at all.

my data got wiped from my sd card
all of my music and photos got wiped away, but the apps didnt got wiped, anyone knows why this happend? its the second time already T_T:cry:

Battery drains at charging while playing
I need to know what i write in the title.Why?Sometimes i observe that i plug my phone for charging while im playing and its not charing its discharging...usual its charging a bit slower because im playing its seem normal but today and another days...was discharging at charging while im playing...whats the problem?

Artist background images are not showing up
Hi all,
Am facing a problem.
My phone is Samsung Ativ S and its still under GDR2.
I had consumed hell lots of time to set artist backgrounds for my songs ( For Indian songs, not an easy task to set artist background).
My mobile's CSC is XME. Tried changing to others to check if GDR3 is available. Already I had updated artist background images for all of my songs using MPAtool. Before I changed my CSC, I copied the music folder (including the hidden folders) as it is from my phone to my laptop. After my phone restarted under new CSC, I saw my music data gone from my phone. So I pasted the copied data from Laptop back to Phone and surprisingly there are no artist backgrounds which I had set earlier.
Really I cant take the pain to get the artist background again for all songs. :sweaty::sweaty::crying::crying:
Generally if I change a windows phone (for ex: from ATIV S to Lumia 930), do I need to set artist background again in new phone. :unhappy::unhappy:
Did I missed something while taking backup? or copying complete music folders?
How can I restore back my artist backgrounds? Please suggest.

My ATIV S won't work (blue screen of death?)
Hello guys,
I've a Samsung ATIV S with the latest Windows Phone 8 update (the one that came last week via the dev program). Today I've turned off my phone while using the Here Drive app. After some time I tried to turn it on and to my surprise I got a blue screen saying that my PC needs to be repaired. The screen is exactly the one that shows up on Windows 8 in a PC when the system has the BCD corrupted.
I've tried to hard reset (volume down + power button) but it won't work. Does anybody has any tips? Any way to recover the OS? Any help would be greatly appreciate!

Still problem with camera?
I updated to WP8.1(wp with folders) and I still have a problem with camera... I updated without PfD... Did somebody have here same problem like me? Thanks :)

T899M Downgrade from DP 8.1
I would really love to go back to Windows Phone 8, unfortunately this phones original factory ROM is very secretive, it is no where to be found online. Why is this? Every other Samsung phone has ROMS available online...I don't understand. Has anyone tried to dump the rom somehow? Perhaps an employee from a cell phone repair center can leak it for us T899M owners? If anyone has any idea on how to get my phone back to Windows Phone 8, that would be helpful.
Things I have tried;
- Contacting Samsung directly - They say it cannot be done.
- Bell Phone technical support - They say I have to take it to Services and product assistance centre and see what they can do...I will try when I have the time next week.

[Guide] Install official Update 1 on ANY Ativ S!
Here's how to install official Update 1 on I8750 Ativ S!
I'm not responsible for bricked or dead phones! ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE DELETED! Backup everything before you proceed!
1. Flash your phone back to GDR2 using this guide and use firmware from here
2. When you are on GDR2, open phone and dial ##634# and wait for Diagnosis to open. In diagnosis app, dial *#321647335 and select ATO CSC. Phone will reboot and hard reset.
3. Search for updates. You'll get GDR3 update first, after installing it, you're able to install Update 1.
Tested it and worked on my unbranded Ativ S.

Can anyone help me with some Roaming problems I am having overseas?
Hi,
I've bought 2 Samsung Ativ S T899M (Bell Canada) and took them overseas. (I'm now in Israel)
From the start I've encountered a similar problem in both phones: there's a network (carrier) connection problem. Every now and then I'm unable to make an outgoing call and an error message appears ("Unable to connect to network") but at the same time I have no problem receiving calls, sending and accepting messages (SMS & MMS) and using data.
When I reboot the phone I can again make outgoing calls.
I've tried changing the carrier but the problem consists on both phones with both carriers.
Carriers' technical divisions claim there's a problem with the phones (maybe API software issue) but can't be sure because "it's not their phone".
Another Tech guy told me it's a roaming problem but had no idea on how to fix it.
Devices are factory unlocked. Roaming is enabled.
I've checked and both phones are fully adequate with carrier's bands.
I'm using a local carrier micro-sim.
OS ver.: 8.0.10521.155
Firmware ver.: 2212.13.11.2
Bootloader ver.: 1308.14.16
SOC ver.: 1.5.32
Samsung Canada suggested a hard reset but said there's no way knowing if it'll solve the problem (seems like a s.o.p for them...)

New ATIV Camera- Still Can't Install
So I've been wanting to install the new ATIV camera for a while now. I've updated to the latest officially released Samsung WP8.1 with new firmware but still can't install the app from the store. Even tried installing manually with no luck. Anyone else got this to install?

Should I buy it?
So, I've sold my exchanged my Lumia 520 for 630, I wanted to keep it but I got good offer for it and sold it just an hour later :) And now I'm phoneless.
My personal go was to buy Lumia 720 as I like Nokia and ofc it's look,camera, sturdiness, etc. But, as I'm buying second hand phone(no money), I can't seems to find it for fair price. Instead, for just a little bit more I've found Samsung Ativ S, 8 months old, full package, I'll see it live tomorrow but on pics it looks without usage track, at least without damage and scratches on screen. I was able to find Lumia 820 for same price.
I don't have any experience with Samsung so far. Is it worth buying? how is the support from samsung? So far I could see there is 8.1.1 OFFICIAL rellased, or I'm wrong?(it wouldn't be problem for me to flash it, it's bought here in Serbia so I don't know it's CSC) . Build quality? How is the battery? I'm not very heavy user, but I use it for forums, some games, internet surfing.
And of course, what I'll be missing from Lumia on it (with 8.1 update)? Is there glance, double tap to wake?
Also, how is navigation on it? No here maps/drive? any good replacement?

This only affects Brazilian users, since the CSC ZTO is included in national origin (BRASIL with S).

Sgh-t899m for sale
I have a SGH-T899M for sale. It's been upgraded to 8.1 Developer Preview and thus has bugs (Camera & Bluetooth). Its unlocked from Bell Canada, who may update to 8.1 at some point which would fix the bugs. There are a few scratches on the screen, but I can't see them when using it. I am not using it, just sitting on my desk collecting dust. There is no known way to restore back to 8. Anyone want to buy it? I think it can be interop-unlocked I have never tried though, perhaps it maybe of use to a WP developer for testing. $120 Canadian with shipping (to US&CAN, extra anywhere else). PM me or reply if interested.
