Bulk Delete option on messages

I want to be able to delete some messages in a thread but not all of them. Currently I have to delete them one at a time. According to Widows 8 phone is supposed to be able to do a bulk delete by tapping beside a message and then a series of check boxes are supposed to show up so that I can select each message. My ATIV s does not do this. The phone has the latest windows update. Am I out of luck?
